Today, we are doing a review of the latest products I have my hands on and for which I have heard that these are awesome hair care products. It’s the Sebastian Professional Potion 9 and Shine Shaker. I have been using them for around three weeks now and I think I’m finally ready now to review them.
Let’s start with the Sebastian Professional Potion 9. This product is a wearable styling cream.
Price: Rs. 1400 for 150ml
What the product claim: Potion 9 is the ultimate versatile styling cream with 9 botanical extracts. It helps restore lost moisture and rejuvenates the healthy look of your hair. Perfect for styling your hair into multiple look with flexible hold.
Apply to damp hair for conditioned soft movement. Do not rinse. Blow-dry or air-dry for a silky, touchable look. Alternatively, apply to dry hair for more texture and control.
My Experience with the Sebastian Professional Potion 9:
I have thin hair and recently they went very dry because of my regular styling for events or lookbook shoots. After doing my shampoo, condition and towel drying the hair, I apply the Sebastian Professional Potion 9 to the length of my hair. I normally blow dry my hair, which worked fine with the Sebastian Professional Potion 9, also you can air dry your hair which gives same shine. In case of moisture and rejuvenates the healthy look of the hair, I would say that this product did help my hair gain the lost shine and moisture. They are more manageable now from my past experience. I have used a heat protector before using any heat styling to my hair, but that did not work for my hair, but I can say this cream is working for my hair. This cream also holds my curls for 2-3 days till I wash my hair. Also, if you would want to tie your hair into dun or any other style, you just need to apply the product to your dry hair and it will actually help styling within more manageable way. So, this is great for styling hair as well. Always remember not to use this product to the roots because it will grease your hair and you will get the feel to wash your hair the next day only. I love the soft smell of this product. I also like the smart look of the bottle and the press dispensing pump which makes it easy to use.
Pros of the Sebastian Professional Potion 9:
- It does nourish my hair and give it a shine.
- Protect from heat
- It helps hold my curls for 2-3 days till I wash my hair.
- Use it to your dry hair for styling and have more manageable hair.
- Smart look of the bottle and the press dispensing pump.
- Smells really good
Cons of the Sebastian Professional Potion 9:
- It is a little pricy product but looking at the pros of this product I think it is ok.
- If applying to the roots, it will grease your hair.
Now it’s time for the Sebastian Shine Shaker. It’s a lightweight shine spray.
Price: Rs. 1450 for 75ml
What the product claim:
Ultra-light, high gloss aerosol spray. For light but luminous mirror-shine.
Spray into dry hair for a mirror-like shine finish. Use with hot tools for luminous shine and to protect hair from heat. Light-touch radiance.
My Experience with the Sebastian Shine Shaker:
Honestly, I did not use this product much, but the stylist told me that after I finish styling my hair, spraying a mist of the Sebastian Shine Shaker will add more shine and protect my hair from pollution and harsh sun rays. I have tried this product to my hair and it did add a little shine but I felt like washing my hair on the second day as it made my hairs a little greasy. The product says its a lightweight shine spray, but I believe because I used so many products (shampoo, conditioner and the Potion 9) before using it, that is why it happens. However, I love the smell of the spray and it is easy to apply because of its sprayer which spray a mist and doesn’t spray in one place. I have heard that this product worked very well for others.
Pros of the Sebastian Shine Shaker:
- Lovely smell
- Easy to apply
- Protect from heat
Cons of the Sebastian Shine Shaker:
- It made my hair look greasy.
- Expensive for 75ml product.
I’m waiting for my potion 9 to get over so that I can start using Shine Shaker. Both products together does not work for me.
