Jewellery is the most important element of an Indian wedding; this is an undeniable fact! Weddings are all about the shine and the glitter a bride is wearing. Be it a family heirloom or a piece that a bride receives from her parents, they all hold a special place in any girl’s life. However, they also need proper care & maintenance. Taking good care of your wedding and trousseau jewellery will add that extra charm to your look every time you wear it.
Shreya Jain, jewellery expert for Truly Bridal by Kalyan Jewellers, will share some tips on how to take care of your jewellery in the easiest possible ways. So, all the brides-to-be, keep these tips in mind and don’t take your wedding jewellery for granted.
# The Glittering Gold
To maintain the shine of your gold jewellery, jewellers usually recommend getting it polished regularly. Washing it with soap is a big no-no! Gold jewellery should never be put in a bowl of soapy water. Jewellery should be rubbed with a clean cloth or a dry toothbrush to clean the engraving and then be cleaned with a cotton cloth dipped in lukewarm water.
Girls, don’t forget to dry out your jewellery before storing it in a box or pouch.
# Polki Sets
Your polki set is super-super prone to moisture. If you keep it in the velvet box given to you by the jeweller, chances are, you can avoid the moisture and prevent your jewellery from losing its shine. Make sure you put all your sets in separate boxes in order to avoid damage resulting from entangling.
# Wedding Ring
We girls just want to show off that big rock all the time! However, you don’t want to damage it. Though, diamonds are forever, remove your precious ring while you are in the kitchen or doing other household chores.
For a new bride, it’s an amazing feeling to be able to flaunt her prized possessions. Hence, following these simple tips and making a little effort will help you in preserving your trousseau jewellery for many more years! So share these tips with all the new brides and the brides-to-be!
